Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 24th instant,
No.36266/14, forwarding a copy of a telegram received
from the Governor of Hong Kong relative to the chartering
of the Prize "Frisia" together with a draft of the reply
which it is proposed to return, I an commanded by my
Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for
the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
that they concur in the terns of the draft reply but that
they would suggest that it should include an approval of
the rate of hire which it is proposed to exact and that a
condition should be inserted to the effect that the vessel
should be appraised before being chartered since such appraisement would be of considerable utility in the event of any dispute as to depreciation.
